There are several canine registries we work with — the American Kennel Club (AKC), APR, ACA, UKC, and others. Most of our puppies are registered under AKC. When you purchase a puppy, we'll give you the chance to register your new puppy with the appropriate registry.
When you purchase a registered puppy, you bring home a furry friend whose family tree is documented. That means your puppy is purebred (belonging exclusively to one breed). A registered dog isn't a guarantee of better health or strength — registration only confirms that its parents belong to the same breed and that it's purebred.
A health certificate from a licensed vet, your puppy's vaccination record, the three-generation pedigree, microchip enrollment, and your warranty packet. Our team reviews each document with you at checkout so nothing's a surprise.
Health & wellness
Yes — all of our puppies are microchipped. Their microchip is registered with AKC Reunite and Help Me Find My Pet. We highly recommend registering your puppy's microchip; if your puppy ever becomes lost, the registered chip helps rescuers locate and bring them home fast.
Remember: 1 in 3 pets will become lost in their lifetime. Without registration or an ID tag, around 90% are never found.
Yes — a 5-year hereditary and congenital warranty comes standard with every Petland Cleveland puppy. See the Claims & Warranties page for the claim process, and how to reach our claims team by email, phone, or fax.
Each puppy follows an age-appropriate vaccination schedule and goes home with a health certificate. Some boosters are completed by your home vet — your paperwork lays out exactly which shots are due and when.
Yes — every Petland Cleveland puppy comes with two complimentary visits at participating local veterinarians, plus a $50 discount toward spay or neuter at our partner network.
Picking a breed
People who are allergic to pet dander should consider hypoallergenic dogs. Breeds that often make great pets for allergy sufferers include the Bichon Frise, Shih Tzu, Yorkshire Terrier, Maltese, Poodle, Miniature Schnauzer, and Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier.
No breed is 100% hypoallergenic — we recommend spending time with a puppy of the breed in store before bringing one home.
Family-friendly favorites include the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Cavapoo, Bichon Frise, Golden Retriever, and Labrador Retriever — known for calm temperaments and great patience around little ones.
Many of our available puppies can be reserved online directly from the puppy listing page. If the reserve option isn't available for a specific puppy, give the store a call and a pet counselor will walk you through next steps.
Bringing puppy home
We partner with six financing programs, including the Petland Credit Card. The Financing page lays out each lender's terms, and a pet counselor will help you compare options in store.
A crate or pen, soft bedding, food and water bowls, the starter food we send home, a few small toys, and a leash and collar. Your pet counselor will share a full first-night checklist at checkout.
Absolutely — that's how we recommend doing it. Come spend time with the puppies you're considering at Parma or Strongsville. No pressure, no rush, and our team is happy to introduce you to several puppies until you find the right fit.
We'll talk you through gentle introductions: separate spaces, controlled first meetings, and scent-swapping. Our team can also recommend trainers in the Cleveland area if you want extra support during the transition.
